Let’s Talk @ Come Up To My Room

Saturday, January 28 – 11am to 1pm – Gladstone Ballroom (1214 Queen Street West)

I will be giving a presentation at Come Up To My Room, the Gladstone Hotel’s alternative design conference. The conference takes place over three days where hotel rooms are outfitted with design and art installations. As part of the conference I’ve been invited to participate in a series called Let’s Talk, on this year’s theme of: Disposibility. My presentation is titled: If You Want To Be Rich Tomorrow Buy A Landfill Today

My presentation examines the findings of my FREE PAPER project at Whippersnapper Gallery, which ran in August of 2011. I will be giving away free copies of the newspaper before and after my presentation. Be sure to stop by and check out all the great installations!

The Description of My Talk is as Follows:

Jp King considers the future of the objects we make, use, love, and destroy, by presenting the findings of his Free Paper Project; which ran as a pop-up newspaper office in Whippersnapper Gallery this past summer, and invited responses surrounding waste, labour, and art. King concludes with his argument that we must come to understand our waste as a resource.
